The Ballardian

Fantastic website devoted to the works of J.G. Ballard, the oracle of Shepperton.

Don’t know how long it’s been around but it includes a stimulating essay on an Australian suburb (complete with lovable Ozzisms such as “hoon” and “dobbing”) that has been suffering from drag racing, and compares it to sub-genre film the Cars that Ate Paris (Dir. Peter Weir). Great stuff.

I should add that PKD and Ballard have a lot in common in being not only original voices, but ultimately superb commentators on contemporary life. I have found Ballard’s recent novels a bit same-y however and too tropic.
