Stephen Jay Gould’s Full House is an examination of how the full variety and diversity of things can be overlooked if you only consider averages, norms and medians. Gould makes an impassioned plea in his inimicable way that variation is irreducible. In his way he is really speaking out against typecasting, stereotypes, racism, normalizations and so on thagt unfortunately are all too prevalent in our society.
Plus, he gets to talk about baseball–one of his favorite subjects!
