A while back I posted that Bush’s unfavorability ratings were higher than that of Carter’s and that only Nixon, on the eve of being forced out of office, had a worse rating (48% strong disapproval).
That post is now incorrect. The percent of those who “strongly disapprove” of Bush is now higher even than Nixon: 50%.
Sixty-four percent of Americans disapprove of the job President Bush is doing, and for “the first time in the history of the Gallup Poll, 50% say they ’strongly disapprove’ of the president. Richard Nixon had reached the previous high, 48%, just before an impeachment inquiry was launched in 1974.”
Some wingnuts came out of the woodwork last time betraying various Derangement Syndromes (Gore, the Clenis) but it’s pretty hard to shake a stick at these numbers. (By contrast during the Republican impeachment trials of Big Dog, his favorability ratings went up to 63%!).
